Focus

The Foundation concentrates its activities in a limited number of areas where long-term capital, applied with discipline and restraint, can contribute to durable outcomes.

The Foundation’s focus is intentionally narrow. It reflects the belief that depth, continuity, and governance matter more than breadth or visibility.

Education

The Foundation supports initiatives that promote education as a long-term societal asset.

This includes projects that strengthen financial literacy, critical thinking, and the transmission of knowledge across generations. Priority is given to initiatives that demonstrate intellectual rigor, institutional stability, and a commitment to long-term impact rather than short-term reach.

Education, in this context, is understood not as instruction alone, but as the cultivation of judgment, responsibility, and independence of thought.

Community

The Foundation selectively supports initiatives that contribute to community continuity and social cohesion.

Rather than broad-based programs, the Foundation focuses on projects with clearly defined objectives, strong governance, and measurable durability. Community initiatives are assessed on their ability to create lasting structures rather than temporary relief.

The Foundation does not engage in public campaigns or symbolic interventions.

Selectivity

The Merval Foundation does not operate on an open application basis.

Initiatives are identified through research, long-standing relationships, and institutional assessment. Engagements are limited in number and reviewed periodically to ensure continued alignment with the Foundation’s mandate.
